Primary are called the first teeth of a child and they are sometimes called 'milk' teeth. The primary teeth are 20 : ten at every jaw.
When a child is born the first teeth are already formed in the jaw although they can't be seen.
Then between about six months old - when a baby gets his first tooth - and three years old, all twenty come through the gums. The first to erupt are the two upper front teeth.

front incisors 6-12 months
side incisors 9-16 months
canines 16-23 months
front molars 13-19 months
back molars 22-33 months
