Dental advice for children :  Sealants

Sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth premolars and molars.
Sealants along with daily dental hygiene can keep your children's teeth free of tooth decay.

WHY
The chewing surfaces of molars and premolars are not smooth. They have pits and fissures where the toothbrush can't reach. So dental plaque grows causing tooth decay.

HOW THEY WORK
This plastic resin bonds into the depressions and grooves (pits and fissures) of the teeth surfaces making them smooth and easier to clean by brushing.

The sealants act as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids.

Sealants are easy for your dentist to apply (it takes only a few minutes to seal each tooth), and they last for several years. During regular dental visits, your dentist will check the condition of the sealants and reapply them when necessary.
